Former TX HD 66 Candidate Wayne Richard on the Texas Speaker’s Race

by Wayne Richard

Five months ago I began a quest to educate and motivate the voters in North Texas about the upcoming House Speaker election when the new Texas House of Representatives session begins January 11th.

Our current Speaker, Joe Straus, is a RINO (Republican In Name Only) elected through a parliamentary procedure which included a majority of Democrats and a “gang of 11 Republicans”; legal but very inappropriate as well as a great injustice to the citizens of Texas.

When my efforts first began to OUST STRAUS, many said he was too powerful and I was wasting my time trying to facilitate the election of a more conservative Speaker.

“Too powerful” was a common phrase we often heard while battling the 19 year incumbent representing District 66 who was also the leader of the “Gang of 11”. Even as a first time candidate for the Texas House challenging the Chairman of the Calendars Committee, we all saw what happens when the people garner their strength and are willing to step forward; VICTORY can be attained.

History is repeating itself as we are now witnessing a tidal wave of citizen activists all working to accomplish the impossible; to unseat another RINO and move our state towards a conservative future.

These efforts are taking on many forms of activity. Some as straightforward as people calling their District Representatives and insisting they vote for a true conservative to those groups working on more sophisticated means to share the message.

I am engaged with a group who supported my campaign last year and we are currently working to spread the facts through new media (You Tube) as well as old media outlets (TV).

A powerful and effective video has been produced which exposes exactly who Joe Straus really is. Currently he is attempting to undergo a metamorphosis, portraying himself as a pro-life, fiscal conservative. We cannot allow Madison Avenue techniques to redefine who this man actually is and what special interests and lobbyists he clandestinely represents.

Watch the video and learn the facts.
The video has already been recognized in D Magazine and Texas Monthly. But we need your help getting this message out to as many people as possible. If you are so inclined please consider donating to the cause as we are hoping to begin running this commercial on cable in strategic House Districts as we enter the Christmas season. Even a $25.00 donation will be helpful. We also need you to forward this message to your friends as Internet based grassroots communication efforts are what brought victory to conservatives in the November elections. But this battle is not over!

With your help, we can defeat another RINO and usher in a new era of Texas style conservatism.

God bless Texas, Wayne

Texans here is a Thought to Ponder for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Joe Straus as Speaker?

by Alice Linahan/North Texas Navigator News EXCERPTS FOLLOW:

Texans if you are going to bet, bet on the horse. Don’t sell your soul to win. Win because of the race and because you stood on the side of Freedom and Limited Government.

“What this story gives us, is a sense that there are capabilities in each of us that are beyond what we think what we can have. Life is about finding how far you can go, how fast you can run and you never know until you try, until you run.” Randall Wallace

I would contend this is the “American Way” to win.

Here is a thought to ponder over this Thanksgiving holiday, a thought to discuss with family and friends at the dinner table in Texas.

With all we now know about the reality of the Progressive left and what they are willing to do to create a Socialist/Marxist society in America, why on earth would we allow Republican State Representatives to be bought off for their votes for Speaker of the House. Secondly, why would they allow themselves to be bought? The answer, according to some Texas State Representatives,” is this is just the way it is, that’s politics, and you people do not understand what goes on in Austin, the back door deals we must do to get things done.”

The peoples’ answer is “you are right that is politics as usual, but not anymore. We are engaged and we will stand together on principal because if we do not Texas will be lost to the Progressive/Socialist agenda.”

There is a reality on the ground you may not be aware of with respect to the Speaker of the House race in Texas; both Fiscal and Social Conservatives across the state are banding together through the Tea Party movement to take Joe Straus out of the position of Speaker of the House.

Why is this you may ask? Joe Straus is a Conservative Republican right? No, Joe Straus  is a RINO (Republican in Name Only)

Please note correction. Joe Straus was not a Democrat he  is a Liberal Republican.

Why the Texas House Speaker’s Race Should Concern You!

by Rebecca Forest

Texas politics is interesting to say the least!

If you are one of the many women in Texas who worked hard to get “true” conservatives elected during the 2010 election, the Texas House Speaker’s race is another election you need to pay attention to and weigh in on.

In 2009, Rep. Joe Straus [R – San Antonio] was elected to serve as Texas House Speaker – an EXTREMELY powerful position in the Texas Legislature.

It only takes 76 votes to be elected as House Speaker and unless you keep up with the inner workings of the Texas Legislature, you probably don’t know that Rep. Straus rose to power because he initially got the support of 65 DEMOCRATS and 11 RINOs (Republican in Name Only).

Straus showed his true colors during the 2009 session!

After getting the early support of 65 Democrats, it was no surprise when he appointed liberal Democrats & flaming RINOs to chair key committees such as Ways & Means, Border & Intergovernmental Affairs, Business & Industry, State Affairs, Elections … the list goes on and on!

It is no wonder vitally important bills dealing with immigration, voter ID, and pro-life issues never saw the light of day because they died in committee.  Shame, shame, shame on Joe Straus and his minions!

During a Texas Tribune interview, Joe Straus said (over and over) that he had NO REGRETS about the 2009 (do nothing) session!

Joe may not have any regrets but conservatives across Texas are FURIOUS that he spent more time worrying about the “mood, tone, and working conditions” of the legislature rather than working to make sure important legislation made it to the House floor for our elected Representatives to vote on.

Activists across Texas are networking  to make sure this session a “true” conservative is elected as Texas House Speaker.  The Texas Tea Parties did a GREAT job helping to deliver some real conservatives to the Texas Legislature BUT if Joe Straus remains speaker, all of that hard work will be in vain.

Those of us at Women on the Wall will be working overtime during the holidays to help educate Texans on this important issue and make sure the failures of last session are not repeated in 2011.

The vote for Texas House Speaker is the first vote of the session which occurs on January 11, 2011.

Please make sure our recent election gains are not lost!  Contact your Representative TODAY and tell him/her you want a “true” conservative as House Speaker in 2011 and to do their part to deliver one on January 11, 2011.  There will be a price to pay for not doing so!

Stay tuned,  check back soon and help spread the word.
