Citizens Groups Join Pastors to Call on Congresswoman to Apologize
Boots of Liberty Task Force, Local Texas Pastors, and WomenOnTheWall.org call on Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18) to Apologize for Her Recent Remarks Equating so-called “Militant Christians” with Radical Islamists
June 23, 2011 (HOUSTON, TX) – A coalition of concerned citizen groups led by Anita Moncrief founder of Boots of Liberty Task Force (BOLT), Pastor Jim Bowie, Associate Minister at True Life Missionary Baptist Church, Alice Linahan of WomenOnTheWall.org are joining together Thursday, June 23, 2011 to demand an apology from Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee (TX-18).
BOLT founder Anita Montcreif said, “Sheila Jackson Lee’s attempt to somehow compare radical Islam’s stated purpose to subjugate the globe to a handful of violent criminals who are regularly condemned by mainstream Christians is an insult and a smear of peaceful Believers of all faiths.”
Alice Linahan, Social Media Director of WomenoftheWall.org said, “What the Congresswoman chooses to ignore is that Christian theology, including Jesus Christ, doesn’t advocate wiping off the map anyone of any ethnicity or belief. Furthermore, the right to an abortion, or the right to choose an abortion, is not a Constitutionally-protected right; however the right to life is.”
Pastor Jim Bowie, Associate Minister at True Life Missionary Baptist Church said, “Those interested in partisan politics in the United States have increasingly rejected God and Christianity while those who try to hold on to traditional Christian values are under attack like never before. Sheila Jackson Lee’s statement hammers home the reality that American values, interests and security are not the concern of some of those in power. Christians are fighting for our freedom even in this Christian nation.
“Ms. Jackson Lee owes an apology to her Christian constituents in Texas and across the country for her underhanded, equivocating remarks that can only be interpreted as an attempt to diminish the international scourge of Islamic terrorism.”
During a hearing about Muslim radicalization in U.S. prisons, Jackson Lee suggested Texas investigators look into the threat of so-called Christian Militants’ attacks on abortion clinics are an attempt to “bring down America.”
PJTV Commentator Alfonzo Rachel responded to Ms Jackson Lee, saying, “Planned Parenthood undermines the black community and is the number one-place to go for blacks to participate in their own genocide. Many black people will go because they see the right to choose an abortion is more enlightened than the right to life.”
Moncrief said, “Ms. Jackson Lee bombastic remarks illustrate the need for the efforts I will be announcing at the press conference today at 2:30 at Pearland Town Centre. Soon, Americans will be able to confidently vote their values, and have their voices heard.”
