We at Women On The Wall
Believe LIFE is a Precious Gift from God
WHY IS OUR FOCUS ON TEXAS CD 21??
As elected leaders across America have pushed to pass legislation to further extend the time limits for legal abortion (even up to the time of and after birth) we believe Texans should have the opportunity to compare and contrast the beliefs and actions of the Texans on the CD 21 2020 ballot. This Educational Voter Video Guide will clearly illustrate the contrast range of the Pro-Abortion OR Pro-Life stance that each has taken. Even if you do not live in TX CD21, the outcome on November 3rd will have an impact on you – one way or another.
WHERE DO THE TX CD21 CANDIDATES STAND ON THE ISSUE OF LIFE?
Former Texas Senator Wendy Davis, filibustered (about 13 hours) to prevent passage of SB5 (HB2) during the first special session of the 83rd Texas Legislature in 2013. Among other provisions, SB5 included a ban on abortions after 20 weeks post-fertilization and mandated that doctors performing abortions must have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. The bill did not apply to abortions necessary to save the mother’s life or to prevent permanent bodily damage from a pregnancy. Three years later (in June 2016), the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Texas law.
Later, commenting on the “Texas Heartbeat Bill” (HB1500) introduced by Rep. Briscoe Cain on February 7, 2019 (with 57 sponsors/co-sponsors of the Texas House members), Former Texas State Senator Wendy Davis said HB 1500 is “the most dangerous I’ve ever seen.”
Current CD 21 Congressman Chip Roy was elected in 2018 and has a 100% rating on National Right to Life’s Federal Scorecard. There have been at least six opportunities to vote Pro-Life in Congress during 2019 and Roy has voted his Pro-Life beliefs at every instance. To learn more, view the Susan B. Anthony LIST of Chip Roy Supported Pro-Life Legislation.
